The Hanging of the Green

Prepare Your Hearts for Christmas!

The Christmas season is almost here, and we invite you to join us for one of our favorite WCMC traditions—The Hanging of the Green!

Wednesday, December 2, 2026

This beautiful tradition marks the beginning of our Advent journey as we prepare our hearts and our church for the celebration of Christ’s birth.

Together, we’ll transform our worship space with the beautiful symbols of Christmas while taking time to remember the hope, peace, joy, and love that Christ brings.

What to Expect

This is a special celebration for the whole church family, and we would love for you to be part of it!

Decorating the Sanctuary
Help us hang the greenery, wreaths, poinsettias, and other beautiful decorations that make our worship space feel ready for Christmas.

Scripture & the Story of Advent
As we decorate, we’ll reflect on Scripture and the meaning behind the symbols of the season.

Christmas Carols & Worship
We’ll sing familiar Christmas songs and lift our voices together as we begin our Advent celebration.

Fellowship & Family
Come be part of this meaningful tradition as we gather together as the WCMC family and prepare our hearts for Christmas.

A Season of Preparation

The Hanging of the Green is more than decorating for Christmas. It is an invitation to pause, prepare, and remember what—and Who—we are celebrating.

As the sanctuary changes around us, may our hearts also be prepared for the coming of Christ.

Come help us hang the green, sing the songs, tell the story, and begin the Advent season together!

Everyone is invited!
